French police rescued the father of a kidnapped cryptocurrency entrepreneur, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of about $5.6 million to $7.95 mill
according to Le Monde, the French police successfully rescued the father of a kidnapped cryptocurrency entrepreneur in the Essonne department in southern Paris on Saturday evening. It is reported that the victim was forcibly taken away by four masked men in the 14th arrondissement of Paris last Thursday.
The report stated that the kidnappers had cut off one of the victim's fingers and demanded a ransom of 5.6-7.95 million dollars (approximately 5-7 million euros) in cryptocurrency. The police arrested 5 suspects in their twenties during the rescue operation. The Paris prosecutor's office stated that the victim is the father of the operator of a cryptocurrency marketing company registered in Malta.
This is the third kidnapping case related to cryptocurrency in France this year. In January of this year, David Balland, co-founder of hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger, experienced a similar kidnapping incident. Prior to this rescue operation, the victim's family did not pay any ransom.
