Ethereum's ERC-7828 and ERC-7930 standards promise to facilitate interactions between different blockchain networks
Ethereum ecosystem developers are on the verge of finalizing two new technical standards — ERC-7828 and ERC-7930 — that could transform how users and applications interact with addresses across different blockchain networks. The proposal aims to solve a persistent user experience problem: the lack of a clear, standardized way to identify addresses specific to each network.
“Users and applications need ways to unambiguously refer to an address on a specific chain,” said Wonderland, a multi-protocol team that collaborates on Ethereum and other decentralized networks.
Currently, there is no universal standard that wallets, dApps, or protocols can follow to display or interpret multichain addresses. This creates confusion and increases the risk of errors — such as sending assets to the right address on the wrong network.
Today, we shared the work we've done on interoperable addresses at the EF L2 Interop Working Group call, covering both ERC-7930 and ERC-7828.
Together, they aim to solve how to reference an address and chain unambiguously.

Presented during a meeting of the Ethereum L2 Interop Working Group, the ERC-7828 and ERC-7930 standards propose a straightforward and practical solution. ERC-7930 defines a technical format for computers to identify the exact network to which an address belongs. ERC-7828 focuses on user experience, making addresses readable, with a structure similar to emails.
“The idea is that this meets the needs of two groups of people,” Wonderland developer Teddy explained during the call. “At a fundamental level, it’s very simple. It’s just, ‘OK, people know about the addresses,’ and we also have to attach a string ID to that so people know where that address actually is.”
The standards are expected to be finalized by May 9, paving the way for wallets, block explorers and cross-chain communication protocols to implement the features.
Wonderland is now gathering final community feedback via the Ethereum Magicians forum before moving the standards to the “final call” phase.
At the time of publication, the price of ETH was quoted at US$1.860,34 with an increase of 6% in the last 24 hours.
